FOPHEC PROFILE
1: INTRODUCTION AND WHO WE ARE.
The Foundation for Peoples Health and Environmental Conservation Tanzania (Fophec Tanzania) is a Non Governmental Organization based in Ilala Munispal Council in Dar es salaa Region in Tanzania.The objective of registration is based on Community Health and Environmental conservation focusing to conserve Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Foest Reserve and all natural resource in the country in general.
This organization was registered with serial number 00NGO/R/4659 dated 17/04/2023 under NGO act number 24 of 2002 section 11 subsection 1 and section 17 subsections 2 of the prevailed amendment.
Fophec Tanzania constitution embraces the good office practices in order to achieve vision, mission, objectives and activities as in short explained in this website.
The need for registration aimed to achieve the following:
1: Conservation and environmental Education deeply rooted to the communities
2. Environmental Education to schools adjacent Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve and in the country at large.
3. Community empowerment financially through small and medium enterprises.
4. To promote sustainable energy efficient technologies as the alternative source of energy for cooking not only as ways to saves forest destruction but also as income generating enterprises.
5. To promote local research and improve domestic tourism in the country.
6. To promote agro forestry good practices to increase crop harvest in the project areas.
2.0: Where do we work?
2.1 Project Area Description
FOPHEC TANZANIA is focusing to work in the United Republic of Tanzania as the conservation and community needs arise but in the prior stage organization will begin implementing a project in Kisarawe District in the coastal region in Tanzania. The project will mainly focus on primary and secondary schools which possess some hectares that are currently either utilized in a manner which is not environmentally friendly or are not utilized at all. Collaborating schools will be selected based on the following criteria:
1. School must have at least 3 hectares of available land for tree planting and caring
2. Must apply for the project to become collaborative partners and show their commitment
3. Schools must be Educational Institution members of our organization.
The main responsibility of collaborating schools will be to provide immediate supervision and engage pupils and students in planting and taking care of the planted and existing trees in their school premises and vicinity. A competition will be introduced to stimulate and motivate schools, teachers, the pupils and students to take part and perform outstandingly in tree planting and caring activities. It is expected that teachers, pupils, and students will be committed and motivated to planting, managing and protecting trees first in their school premises and later in the surrounding open and/or forested/woodland areas.
